Country music| Weekly schedule
Community Radio is about reflecting the diverse nature of our community and 2AIR-FM is proud to host them.
Each week there are programs with different ethnic appeal including Islander, European and Indigenous. These specialist shows foster closer understanding within the listening audience as well as sharing musical tastes. They are often the only opportunity minority groups have to keep in touch with their culture.
If you would like to know more, contact the station.
It is important to remember that at least a quarter of the program must be spoken in English and you have the musical resources to sustain the program.
2AIR-FM is proud to host two programs dedicated to the local community.
REGARDING COFFS is a totally local program. All music played is performed by local artists and local history segments are included. This is 100% Community content. Wednesdays, 9 to 10.30am.
COMMUNITY is about, well, our community! Interviews are about events happening in our area or local people who have something different to say. There are so many people who do such interesting things or are involved in local groups, all making our community that much better. Thursdays, 9 to 10.30am
This program began on the very first day of broadcasting, way back in 1998 and has always been a firm favourite of our older listeners.
Aileen Shipman initially hosted and developed the program which plays nostalgic music from the 20's to the 60's. It was an immediate success with the older age group and is still one of our most popular programs.
It is a program primarily chosen for older listeners, residents of the many nursing homes and hospitals in the area and the staff tell us that patients with dementia and other degenerative problems `come to' when they hear the theme. We also have a list of the patients' birthdays and play Happy Birthday for them.
Weekdays, 10.30 to noon.
From Day 1, 2AIR has been broadcasting country music – the only station in the area to do so. It is unbelievably popular. It was one the tenets of our original concept and it continually amazes us how many people are awake at 5am just because country music is on the radio. There are also country music programs on some weeknights and on Saturday and Sunday.

The World Music Show takes you on a musical journey around the globe every Monday evening, from 6pm to 8pm, featuring traditional and contemporary music in a variety of musical genres. You can hear: hot salsa and cumbia from Latin America; Cajun and Zydeco music form Louisiana; township jives from South Africa; hypnotic desert grooves from the Sahara; amazing throat singing from China; virtuosic violin playing from India; breezy Bossa Nova from Brazil; passionate Italian love songs; beautiful Celtic music from England, Scotland, and Ireland; joyful stringband music from Papua New Guinea; soulful Indigenous music from Australia; and much, much more!
Jenny's "Grass Roots" folk music has been a favourite for many years. Her knowledge of artists, presentation of a wide range of "folk" styles makes this an essential program to hear what is the latest, popular and favourites of this genre. Sundays, noon to 2pm
Weekends, 2-4pm
Ray and John love their music and they enjoy sharing their wide collections and knowledge with you. You'll hear the very old standards through to contemporary releases.
Simon has only been with the station for 6 months and in that time has developed a strong following for his different but eminently satisfying taste in music. Wednesdays from 10pm.
Patrick has developed a very strong following for his sublime and different blues program.
It is difficult to categorise his style but the late night listeners love it. He follows our very popular "Walk the Line" bluesy/country music program hosted by Dave Franklin.
Thursday evenings from 8pm.
Kurt has an encyclopaedic knowledge (and music library) of European music, ranging from Poland to Italy via Spain and Norway. He presents a truly toe-tapping 2 hours of music. He enjoys being on air so much he sometimes breaks into one of the many European languages he speaks.
Sundays 6pm
Wonderful harmonies and vocals characterise the music from Polynesia. Mondays at 2pm.
A program of gospel music and easy listening hymns is broadcast every Sunday morning from 6am to 8am. Included is a 15 minute segment “Face to Face” produced by the Lutheran church, a Bible story segment and times for prayer and sacred readings. This program is eagerly listened to by those who are unable to attend a church.
At all times, 2AIR welcomes your feedback about our programs. Whether it is a suggestion for a new program or one you would like to present or just to hear something different or a concern about some program formats, please email us.
